It is the simplest things that mean so much......

These days life becomes such a rush. I often think of us as little ants scampering here, there and everywhere and running backwards and forwards to our nest. It is my nest where I feel the most comfortable and want to spend so much of my time but of late because of work commitments and life in general we have not had much "home" time.

My youngest child (10) is my most sensitive. She has such a gentle heart and presented me with this through the week. It is a gorgeous scrappy page that she made whilst spending the day with her grandma. It reads "Mum Your the laughter in my heart, the smile that you give me is the beauty in your eyes." She wrote it herself and it brought tears to my eyes. She says she misses me- That makes you stop and think about the "real" things that matter in life and they certainly are not "material" things.

Every now and again you just need a little kick in the pants to remind you of what you have. Life is not about the material things - They make life nicer but they are not what really matter. The things that matter are the things that make you happy.

Other than my family one of the things that makes me very happy is my sketching, stitching and sewing. My life would not be complete without it. It brings me so much joy. I love making things for the important people in my life.

Stitching has brought some beautiful friendships into my life and I feel blessed that I have them.

Do you often think about the things that matter most to you? I am always saying "you never know what is around the corner in life" and that is so true. Don't put off things that you have wanted to do or are contemplating. Make each day matter and enjoy it.

It's a bit of a sentimental and soppy post - I didn't intend it to be that way but I just wanted to remind you of what really matters in life. Work out what things make you blissfully happy and things that don't and shed the things that don't. We are only here for such a short time and we need to make it count and enjoy it.

One of the things that matter to me is "blogging" So many of you that leave comments have become lovely friends. I look forward to hearing from you each time I post and love to pop by your blog and see what you have been up to. As I said before "It is the Simplest Things That Mean So Much"

Have a wonderful weekend,
HUGS

All so true Fiona. I like to spend more time with people and "things" that make me happy and not dwell on the bad bits.

So very true Fiona.I've been stopping to smell the roses and enjoying my family more this year as I came to the same conclusion late last year.Things aren't worth it,family, friends are the centre and I try not to let the outside world bother my time with them.Life is too short not to enjoy it :) Barb.

Thank you for reminding us, Fiona. I'm having to stay a little longer in Washington DC this weekend, we have a big snowstorm coming - more time to stitch and more time with family, lovely!

What a lovely card you got from your little darling. I bet that's one that will be brought out time and time again over the years - what a beautiful keepsake :o).
Fiona you're so right, so many times people become so focussed on what they don't have ~ that they might fail to see the priceless treasures that are right before their eyes.
Thanks for the reminder dear Fiona :o). What a beautiful post.
Love n hugs,
Joy :o)

You reached into our hearts with your lovely post Fiona...yes....we all need to hang onto the "most" important things in this commercial and high speed world. "Keep It Simple" is a good message from the folks of yesteryear.

Thank you darling Fee as your post is so special in reminding us what is important. I have decided this a while ago and find that there are some things in my life just not needing my attention so much. I love what your daughter made for you and she is as special as you are. hugs Vicki

Such a beautiful post. I agree that life is so fleeting and we spend so much time stressing over the small things. Enjoy each moment and joy of simple things.

What you have said is so true , we sometimes forget that family and the simple thing are what make us what we become. i love nothing better than playing with my GChildren and hearing them laugh.

Your post spoke volumes to me. Sometimes I let myself get caught up in the day-to-day way too much. This was the reminder that I needed to keep things simple and in perspective! Thanks

What a lovely blog. yes soppy,or is it sharing how we feel. My favourite saying is "Dont forget to smell the roses" This week someone sent me a small pretty little note book (not worth much) but it just made my week. How offen do we forget to do little things like that, when it can mean so much.
