Home Is Where My Heart Is ................

Life wasn't meant to be easy.  Who said that?  Well it's true.  Life throws us lots of curved balls as we travel down it's path.  Some we manouver around with ease others we don't.

Sometimes it is hard to decide which path to take in life.  Some decisions we make are good, some bad but usually we just deal with whatever life dishes up.

And oh boy - I have had a fairly large helping lately.  Facing regular battles and challenges whether they be personal or on behalf of those you love, makes you stop and wonder.

What is important in your life and what's not?  Have you had some moments in your life when you sit and ponder that question?

I never meant for this post to become all deep and meaningful but with a handful of people I care about facing different types of battles, the people of the world facing various disasters this year, the economy, the world in general really facing some major battles - I have been thinking about it a lot and I think it's time to get back to basics.

I often wonder what life was like back in the pioneer days when people were grateful for a full belly and a warm bed.  Society has changed so much and we have so much but quite often we don't realise it.

For those of you that know me you already know that my home is where my heart is.  My castle and the centre of my family.  I want to build on that and try to be more grateful for what we have, try to appreciate the glories of making our house our home and be thankful for small mercies.

Will you join me?  I intend to post a  few suggestions each week about making our houses our homes from crafty ideas, to money saving ideas to just feel good ideas.  Learning to appreciate what we have and to stop wishing for what we don't......

I would love for you to post some of your own ideas, recipes and tips to make our homes our castles, to fill our bellies with good wholesome food and to warm the hearts of those around us.  It might just be a recipe that you share or a housekeeping tip.

Grab the logo above and leave me a message once you have it on your blog and I will pop a link to your blog in my side bar - Each week I will share some of your ideas on my blog.

Hugs - Fee XX

I LOVE IT! I very much feel what your post has said. It is very sad what is going on in the world. I do wish I could help everyone.. EVERYONE. I need to start at home however, and make my home the best place it can be. The first thing I need to do for that to work, is to take care of myself. I need to be healthy in order for any of that to work. I stopped drinking soda and started drinking water. It was VERY hard to do. My parents didn't drink a 6 pack of soda a day. I also have tried to work more wholesome meals into our diet. My parents didn't buy ready-made meals. They cooked from scratch. Whole foods, as much as possible, and the cost is less. Coupons!!!
Fabric in the kitchen instead of paper.. Less paper towels. Those are the beginnings of my tips..but I am working on things.

What a great idea Fee. I think that's a big problem with todays society. I have just gone through some of the same feelings in the past month or so with feeling the need to simply life and to remember the important things! Count me in. :)

Oh my dear I think you have just typed what many of us think. What is up with our world and the people in it? I sort of work on the idea that if we were kinder to each other many negative thingies would just fade away, a simple thing but I really do believe it. As for our friends that are suffering with health issues - all we can offer are friendship, prayers and company.

Our family made a conscious effort with our sea change to slow down and enjoy life. We now live a simpler, slower and homely lifestyle and we love it!! I'm right behind you on this one Fee and hope I can add something valuable.

Hi Fee, I agree this is a wonderful idea and I'd love to be part of this group. When my MS became so bad I had to give up paid work, I took a very long hard look at how wasteful I had been of both money and the earth's resources and I have also adopted a much more simple lifestyle. I would love to share my ideas and read what everyone else to contribute.

A very thought-provoking post Fee! Last year I had a year of worrying about some of our family as they faced huge 'hurdles' including relationship breakdowns and mental illness, but we got through somehow. I get a lot of comfort from reading blogs such as Rhonda-jean's http://down---to---earth.blogspot.com/ and Tanya's http://suburbanjubilee.blogspot.com/ Both of them write about living a simpler life and offer suggestions of how to live well, be happy and to be frugal in the use of resources.

I have blogged about this. It is so necessary today. I am looking forward to this new journey. My main tip at the moment is get off the computer and restrict myself to a certain amount of time each day.

Fee, you can count me in, too. I hope you don't mind that I had to resize your button to fit in my sidebar.
You have put words to what has been in my heart for a long time. I will try to post something at least once each week relating to this. Thank you. I look forward to reading all the others too.

Fee - Life is becoming crazy and more complex by the minute it seems. I for one decided that it was time to concentrate on the things that matter - family, home, friends, health and happiness.

Well done for saying it all out loud - too often there is pressure for us to all be multi-tasking, over-achieving amazons.

Count me in:)
